Mission Accomplished...
my ass!
It is absolutely necessary that Bush and all his henchman be brought to justice if for no other reason than that they have bankrupted the United States of America. If we do not do that, if we do not drag every single crime of theirs into the daylight, if we do not shine a glaring spotlight on every god-damned dime stolen by Halliburton, the Lincoln Group, and every other Abramoff client, then the Democrats are going to take the fall for the economic problems that must necessarily follow.
If you doubt me, look at the headlines this morning: Market uncertainty following Dem win. That is the set up. Markets don't like the Dems because they are (only slightly) more likely to hold business accountable and to make them pay for the services provided to them by their government.
Folks, even with the best of intentions, it is going to cost us - you and me and all the rest of us - billions upon billions of dollars to extricate ourselves from Iraq. And we are already billions (or is it trillions?) in debt to China, Japan, and every other nation foolish enough to have lent money to Junior. Just servicing the debt on this, George W. Bush's biggest and most destructive binge, will require a massive effort on all our part. And if we do not clearly fix the blame, if we allow ourselves to say "Let us let bygones be bygones. We have won the Congress and are well positioned for a run at the White House in 2008. Let us not stir the shit." If we do that, then as sure as you are reading these words, the Democrats will have the albatross of the recession that must follow as surely as night follows day hung about their collective neck and the neocons will slip back in and complete the job they have begun.
